Sleepy day at work? Wake the hell up!!

Here is how you can fight your sleep at work!

It was a Sunday and you decided to stay up late for the cricket match or a Nolan movie. Because why not? It’s still a holiday! What comes next though is a regretful, sleepy and tiring Monday! The eyes are heavy. It is a task in itself keeping the lids open and give a blank stare at the monitor. The fingers give up on typing and all you need is a nice warm cozy sleep.

Well, we can’t promise you that your boss will let you have a small nap. But here is what we got : list of stuff you could do to wake yourself the hell up!!

  1. An apple a day doesn’t just keep the doctor away. But also saves you from an angry mail from the Human Resource about your slow day at work! Having an apple in the morning, puts away the sleepiness.
An apple a day will keep anyone away, if thrown hard enough.

Basically, fruit is an excellent food for giving you fast energy but without making you crash. Try eating a few pieces of fruit every 30 minutes or snacking on grapes constantly.
Did you know fresh juices too have tons of benefits!

  2. Water helps too, and not just splashing it across your face, but drinking some too! Dehydration is actually a big cause of tiredness. So what is the opposite of dehydrated? Yeah, hydration! So have lots of water.
Another benefit is, when the bladder fills up, you have to visit the loo too often which
in turn makes you move around and physically up!

    Drinking water helps keep calm
    Staying hydrated helps staying up!
  3. Cold air is a solution too. Cold air keeps your body’s heating system cranking and you will shiver yourself awake. However, if it is an Indian summer time, don’t go for the cooling option! It will only make you cozier. Rather, let yourself sweat. (word of caution: don’t forget some deodorant!)
Sweaty hands are a big put off. Here’s how you can fight it!
  4. Have some tea to fight the sleep. If you have to have one or the other it is better to go for a nice Chinese Green Tea as this has many health benefits. Green tea also helps fighting arthritis.
  5. Get some fresh air. Now this helps a lot! Sometimes sitting in a warm office with a comfortable chair, flickering computer screen and a gentle whisper of talking workmates is enough to send anyone to sleep. Go outside and breathe in some of the fresh air for a few minutes.
  6. If all fails, this might be the only solution. Watch this video for step-by-step instructions.

How to protect my Liver?

Prevention is better than cure!

This statement always holds true for all instances of life. It is always better to take precautions than suffer ailments and bitterness of medicines.

We are going to discuss what all can be done to prevent Liver damage:

  1. Avoid Alcohol: drinking alcohol is associated with a faster progression of liver disease, says Marc Ghany, MD, MHSc, a staff physician in the liver diseases branch at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.
[Watch]Don’t consume alcohol, but there are whole lists of benefits of Vodka!!
  2. Reduce Consuming Pain Killers: Dr. Jensen recommends limiting the use of pain medications containing acetaminophen to less than 2,000 milligrams a day. “Acetaminophen can cause liver damage on its own, so if your liver is already harmed from other causes, the threshold for damage is lower,” he explains
  3. Discuss Your Medicines With Your Doctor: Each time you visit the doc, make sure you inform him/her about your existing prescriptions and recent health history. Some drugs are metabolized by the liver and may cause further harm when your liver is already damaged. Even supplements that are marketed as “natural” can interfere with liver function and cause severe side effects.
These food items help protect from backaches!
  4. Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight can cause fat to build up in the liver and contribute to insulin resistance and liver damage from fibrosis, or scarring, of the liver. Work toward a healthy weight by exercising regularly, eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and watching your calorie intake.
Learn different benefits of juices from fresh and raw fruits and vegetables!
  5. Don’t Give Up Coffee! “Patients who drank three or more cups of coffee per day had a 50 percent lower risk of disease progression,”

Those who consume 3 or more cups of coffee have lower risk of heart problems!
  6. Get vaccinated. Get tested for other viruses that affect the liver, like hepatitis A and B, and get vaccinated against them to reduce the risk for further liver damage.
Watch this Video where Bollywood star, Mr. Amitabh Bachan talks about his liver damage.
  7. Keep your appointments for regular checkups: For chronic hepatitis C, you’ll likely see your doctor every three to six months, depending on the severity of your illness and the type of treatment you’re getting. Don’t skip these appointments. Use them as opportunities to evaluate your care steps as well as your condition.

Starbucks and more banned

FSSAI came into light for the general public only after the Nestle Maggi was banned. But is that all that is banned?
Surprisingly, FSSAI has always been under action, with about 400 products already banned apart from our favourite 2 minute noodles.

It seems that food companies have taken Indian food standards too lightly. In a compilation by NewsToFuse, the following stats will reflect the same.

Adulterations

Nestle is just a single company that has been scrutinised. There have been other big names whose items have been banned, but the general public has not been made aware of that by the media.

Tata Starbuck, Amway, Del Monte, McCain, Orflame and Ranbaxy are few of these defaulters. Remember the ads of Revital? Yeah well, BANNED!

About 400 products have been banned by FSSAI. These are few of them, the big names.
